Joe, Alan and Paul

Paul Fitzgerald hails from Ireland and has been playing double bass in bars, festivals and concert halls, and touring the world since the 60s. He also lectures in world music and plays sitar, harmonium and guitarron. Paul enjoys bringing musical influences back from his travels and incorporating them in his playing, to keep the sounds alive and fresh.

Alan Bates, born to sing… From the school choir aged 7 to Ellipsis in ’07, hasn’t stopped singing yet. Choosy about material and arrangements, has his eye on the main chance for expression and vocal wit. Loves his guitar and wants to marry it to his voice. Alan brings his experience of touring through the sixties and seventies and recording through the eighties and nineties, to the 21st century by interpreting thirties swing in an up-beat and personal way.

Joe Capp, inspired by musical parents. Musical experience in all genres. classical, folk, jazz, & many others. Influenced by Stephan Grappelli, Chris Hague, Tim Kliphaus & others, but bringing his own style & interpretations to material. Joe plays an 1880 German violin built to the Stradivarius model & uses a William Hill bow.
